I'm still OK today

"Shiki-Jitsu" ("Ritual"), by Hideaki Anno
A beautifully filmed tale about a girl locked in a fantasy world to keep herself safe from reality and the unlikely relationship that ultimately leads to change. Anno explores his favourite themes while offering the viewer some of the best photography ever seen on screen. This is Japanese cinema at its mind-bending best.

Frankie, Frankie...

"Pusher" trilogy, by Nicolas Winding Refn.
A gritty, unrelenting peek inside the criminal underworld of Copenhagen, from the perspective of a different character on each of the three films. Drug dealers are human too.

"I've been thwarted by a curtain."

“Bear”, alternative comic by Jamie Smart.
Meet Bear, walking talking stuffed animal and war veteran. Meet Looshkin, psychotic cat with murderous intents and vivid imagination. Meet Karl, their absentee owner. You have just met the main characters of Jamie Smart’s witty, surreally funny “Bear”. Published (not surprisingly) by Slave Labor Graphics. It’s even got its own website.
