"Shiki-Jitsu" ("Ritual"), by Hideaki AnnoA beautifully filmed tale about a girl locked in a fantasy world to keep herself safe from reality and the unlikely relationship that ultimately leads to change. Anno explores his favourite themes while offering the viewer some of the best photography ever seen on screen. This is Japanese cinema at its mind-bending best.

Mind-bending? You're joking, right?
Japs cant make movies, just as they cant be "normal", by our european standards. They're just odd, and thats quite ok, but lets not come crawling on our knees saying "this is brilliant", just because they copy, and modify to their own standards, our own culture.
Japan has plenty of culture, no doubt there, but they got their asses kicked by the stupid americans, and have been even more stupid than they already were, since then.
We can say the same about ourselves - the greatest tragedy of all, for Europe, was not Hitler and Germany - it was being occupied by the stupid americans. They left a mark, and they continue to occupy Europe - now not through weapons, but through MTV and other weapons of mass destruction. They slaughter thousands, each day. Your little sister, and mine.
So, STFU about japanese "great aesthetics", its nothing but an attempt to look good, according to american standards. Which are crap.
